March 14 or 3/14. If I were writing this at 1:59 that would be even better! A transcendental day, a day for contemplating circles, for wondering why 22/7 appears in such funny places, and for thinking that maybe, just maybe, there's a strange sense of order hidden in all this chaos after all.
Pi Poker: A straight = 3, Ace, 4, Ace, 5.
Pi-Ku:
A poem
of
transcendental
syl-
lables that might seem
to never end. But you can still try . . .
(that was invented by me but I would be amazed if other people haven't invented their own versions!)
Or a more western version, not syllabically based, but metrical feet:
When contemplating Pi,
it's better
to think in circles, to wonder at pat-
terns of
diameter to whole. The universe
can be divided into equal sections of Pi, you can dig right in.
Pi used to be the source of random number generation for old computer processors (true). Random is not always random!
Pi shows up in equations about probability, efficient infinite series, Heisenberg's uncertainty principal . . . and in PIckles :o)
When we finally calculate it to the point it repeats, will the aliens come down, tell us thanks for all our work, hand us a gold watch and tell us we're free to go??
Can I tell a story, Jocellina, to remind, charm, and haunt?
(3. 1 4 1 5 9 2 6 5 3 5 letters :o)
It would be about Pi . . .
(that last line is not Pi related, I could only go to 11 places)
How
a
bout
u?

See you three years from today!!
ReplyDeleteI am afraid of a charming, haunting story . . . but I bet it would be fun - is it embarassing?
